End of an era: Anne Campanelli retires after 40 years
After an extraordinary journey spanning 40 years, Anne Campanelli, Director of Service Management, will be retiring from Trimac on Dec. 31, 2024.
Anne’s career with Trimac began while she was still attending Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont., working part-time for four years before joining full-time after graduation. Over the decades, Anne has held numerous roles, each one showcasing her meticulous attention to detail, thoughtfulness and unwavering dependability.
One of Anne’s first awards as a Sales Manager was achieved in the 1990’s with the launch of a new operation that introduced steel mill slag hauling to the Northeast. Her accomplishment was recognized by naming the new branch “A.B. Slag”, Anne’s maiden name initials. Throughout her career, she played an integral part in numerous projects, employee initiatives, and training programs across sales, pricing, billing, and marketing. Her weeklong Pricing Workshop, which trained operations, sales, and key managers, equipped employees in various roles with the tools to understand and measure profitability.
In her most recent role, Anne worked with Billing, Master Data, and Service Delivery teams to ensure the consistent execution of Trimac’s customer billing and driver pay functions. Collaborating with other departments, her team’s efforts on accessorial revenue capture and optimizing batch bill and batch pay processes laid a strong foundation for Trimac’s continued improvement in customer invoicing, driver settlements, and contract administration.
Enduring impact
Anne’s name has become synonymous with reliability at Trimac. Over the years, she has steadily delivered with precision and excellence. Her thoughtful approach and influence are felt across the organization, not only through her professional contributions but also through her willingness to teach the many individuals she’s helped along the way.
“There are very few people who retire from the same company they interned at,” said Karen Tsang, VP Revenue Operations. “This is a testament to Anne’s willingness to learn, change, and adapt throughout her 40 years with Trimac as she’s progressed through her many roles. Anne’s attention to detail, thoughtfulness, and dependability made her an important part of every team. Congratulations Anne on your retirement!”
Her Trimac family will always remember her as a cornerstone of our company’s success. Join us in celebrating Anne Campanelli’s remarkable career and wishing her all the best in her retirement!

Houston Service Center’s annual Angel Tree Project embodies spirit of giving
The Houston Service Center once again embarked on a heartwarming mission that has become a cherished tradition—the Annual Angel Tree Project. Each holiday season, the Houston team chooses a different organization to support, including senior homes, survivors of human trafficking, foster kids and domestic violence shelters.
This year, the Houston team adopted several children whose families were struggling to provide Christmas gifts. A beautiful Christmas tree was set up in the office, adorned with angel tags—each carrying a child’s wish. Team members then picked angels from the branches, committed to making every wish come true.
Once the shopping was complete, gifts were brought back to the office and placed under the tree. Seeing the collection grow day by day was a truly beautiful sight, a testament to the generosity and teamwork that defines the Houston Service Center. On the final collection day, the gifts were carefully loaded up and delivered to the collection site, ready to bring joy to children and families in need.
While the team didn’t get to see the smiles of the children as they unwrapped their gifts, they knew their efforts made a difference—bringing a little holiday magic to those who needed it most.

A half-century behind the wheel: Bruce McLean’s well-deserved retirement
For many professional drivers, a year without an accident is an accomplishment. For others, maintaining a clean record for a decade might feel like a career-defining triumph. But for Bruce McLean, a veteran driver at Double Eagle—part of Trimac’s Family of Companies—these milestones are simply chapters in a much longer story. After 21 years of dedicated service with the company and an astounding 50 years in the trucking industry overall, Bruce has decided it’s time to hang up his keys and start a new chapter in life. The retirement of Bruce marks the end of an era, not just for Double Eagle, but for anyone who has had the privilege to know him, work alongside him and witness his unwavering commitment to safety and excellence.
A legacy of Service with Safety
A spotless safety record is difficult to maintain, given the unpredictability of weather, traffic patterns, equipment wear and the host of unforeseeable events that can occur on the open road. Yet, in his 21 years with Double Eagle, Bruce managed to do just that: he maintained a perfect safety record. Not a single preventable accident. Not one blemish on his impeccable driving history.
At 75 years young, Bruce defies all the stereotypes, proving that experience, vigilance and a genuine love for the road know no age limits. Where some might consider slowing down, he instead pushed forward, upholding the highest standards of professionalism and responsibility behind the wheel. His record is a testament to his skill and patience. His longevity in such a demanding profession speaks volumes about his character, his careful approach to every mile driven and his dedication to ensuring that cargo, fellow motorists and company equipment remained safe at all times.
In total, he spent 50 years behind the wheel. The trucking industry changed dramatically over those five decades. He witnessed shifts in technology—from paper logbooks to advanced electronic logging devices—and improvements in fuel efficiency and safety features. Yet through all the change, Bruce remained a steady driver who adapted, learned and thrived.
Bruce’s half-century career was not solely defined by his accident-free record. He was also known for his integrity, punctuality and willingness to go the extra mile—literally and figuratively—for his customers and co-workers. His approach set a high bar for everyone around him. In an industry that often demands long hours, late nights and early mornings, Bruce’s resilience and positive attitude never wavered. It’s no wonder he earned the admiration of peers, the respect of management and the gratitude of clients who could count on him, day in and day out.
“Bruce meets the highest standards an employee can meet; he has always been there when needed and went above and beyond expectations,” said Rick Busby, Terminal Manager at Double Eagle. “He will definitely be impossible to replace. I think everyone in the company that has been here for some time would agree with everything I said. He is definitely a man to look up to.”
Celebrating a legend
As Bruce prepared to embark on a well-earned retirement, the Double Eagle team made sure his send-off reflected the magnitude of his contributions. The team organized a luncheon last month, inviting staff and fellow drivers to join in celebrating this remarkable milestone. The atmosphere was filled with heartfelt congratulations, memories shared and the warmth of camaraderie that Bruce himself helped foster over the years. There were smiles, laughter and perhaps a few tears as colleagues came by to wish him well.
Photographs captured the moment, testifying that while Bruce might be leaving the driver’s seat, he will always remain a beloved member of the Trimac family.
After decades on the highways, he plans to enjoy the quieter moments of life—spending time with his wife, working in a garden and savoring the freedom to wake up without a delivery schedule. After dedicating so many years to ensuring loads arrived safely and on time, Bruce deserves the chance to focus solely on personal projects, relaxing hobbies and quality family time. May his well-deserved retirement be as fulfilling and rewarding as the career that led him here.
“I hope and pray he has a long, joyful and blessed retirement; he has certainly earned it,” said Rick.
AIP Logistics adopts family for holidays
AIP Logistics, part of our Trimac family of companies, embraced the spirit of giving by participating in a heartfelt initiative to support a family in need through the Auglaize County Crisis Center.
This year, AIP Logistics “adopted” a family of five—a mother and her four children— supporting them by fundraising and fulfilling their holiday wish list.
The Auglaize County Crisis Center plays a vital role in providing safety and support for victims of domestic violence in Wapakoneta, Ohio. Their services include 24-hour emergency crisis response, safety planning, shelter, case management and survivor programming for both residential and non-residential victims.
The team raised nearly $400 and along with the gifts donated from the Angel tree, they were able to fulfill the entire family’s wish list! To make this effort a success, the team organized a variety of fun and engaging fundraising activities throughout November, including:
– 50/50 raffle
– Chili cook-off: Congratulations to Company Driver Mark Meyer, who won the first annual chili cook-off!
– Pie in the face contest: Area Manager Vincent Jolly took pies in the face by Branch Administrator Kasi Beers, who won this opportunity by participating in a silent auction.
– Angel tree: Employees selected gift tags to purchase from under the Christmas tree, which listed items from the adopted family’s wish list.
“My heart is so full, and it really shows what can be accomplished when we come together as a team. For our first year doing something like this, I’d say it was much more successful than I had anticipated,” said Branch Customer Service Representative Alicia Diehl, who was one of the organizers of this initiative.
Thanks to the efforts and generosity of our team, a family in need will have a brighter holiday season. This initiative is an example of Trimac’s values in action and the meaningful impact we can have when we come together to support our communities. Here’s to spreading joy and kindness every holiday season!

Trimac and MEDATech pilot project nears completion
Since the MEDATech zero-emission Class 8 transport truck pilot project kicked off back in 2023, Trimac and partners MEDATech and Teck Resources Ltd. have achieved remarkable environmental milestones, with the potential to avoid approximately 170 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually compared to diesel counterparts. These findings highlight the environmental benefits of transitioning to battery-electric vehicles in heavy-duty applications. This transition to a battery-electric vehicle also has the potential to eliminate around 62,000 litres of diesel fuel per year, resulting in substantial fuel savings.
“Trimac’s pioneering pilot project with MEDATech and Teck Resources Ltd. has demonstrated potential for significant environmental and economic benefits, achieving substantial CO₂ emission reductions and fuel savings, while showcasing the operational viability of battery-electric heavy-duty trucks,” said Abraham Masri, Manager of Energy Transition and Sustainability at Trimac. “While the technology shows promise in reducing CO₂ emissions and fuel consumption, real-world testing has highlighted both its potential and the challenges that remain. This pilot project has provided invaluable insights that will guide future advancements in sustainable heavy-duty transportation.”
Background on the project
In late 2022, Trimac engaged MEDATech and Teck Resources Ltd. to develop and pilot a fully electric, zero-emission Class 8 transport truck capable of hauling copper concentrate between Teck’s Highland Valley Copper operations in south-central British Columbia and a rail loading facility in Ashcroft, B.C. The project represented the world’s first use of a battery-electric truck for hauling copper concentrate and marked a significant milestone in the transition to sustainable heavy-duty transportation.
The collaboration resulted in a custom-built tractor unit on a Western Star 4900EX chassis, equipped with two DANA TM4 SUMO HP electric motors, providing 1,448 horsepower and 3,915 lb-ft of peak torque—double that of a comparable diesel engine.
Testing commenced in February 2023, with the truck completing an average of 3.4 load cycles during daily 12-hour shifts, with the potential for a fourth cycle depending on conditions. Charging the vehicle currently takes 2 to 2.5 hours, facilitated by onboard chargers with a combined capacity of 150 kilowatts.
Operational performance
Despite slightly lower average load cycles compared to diesel trucks (3.4 vs. 4.4), the truck demonstrated strong performance and favourable feedback, with drivers mentioning its quiet operation, powerful torque response and reduced gear-shifting requirements as key benefits. While drivers were initially resistant to the electric truck, they have since warmed up to it and now enjoy operating it.
“The steep hill in Ashcroft provides an ideal testing ground, allowing the electric truck to recharge and maximize its efficiency,” said Taylor Caldwell, Assistant Area Manager. “This route is perfect for evaluating the truck’s capabilities.”
Although we faced some initial setbacks with the charging system, these issues have been resolved.
“The electric truck has since proven to be the most reliable unit at our branch,” added Caldwell. “As we approach the winter months, it will be fascinating to see how it performs compared to our other vehicles. It’s thrilling to be involved in a project that not only benefits the environment but also demonstrates the viability of electric trucks within the trucking industry.”
Economic and developmental gains
The pilot project demonstrated the economic viability of electric heavy-duty vehicles, with lower fuel consumption and reduced maintenance significantly decreasing operational costs. Throughout 2023, MEDATech implemented system upgrades to enhance safety, optimize charging efficiency and improve driver experiences.
Next steps
As the pilot project nears its official completion on Dec. 31, 2024, Trimac and its partners are conducting further tests under winter driving conditions to assess battery performance, cab heater functionality and operator safety. Following the pilot phase, the project’s outcomes will be evaluated to determine the feasibility of full-scale implementation.
Feldspar Trucking hosts Big Rig Christmas parade, continuing community commitment
Feldspar Trucking spread holiday cheer with its Big Rig Christmas truck show and parade, featuring 22 trucks in the local community on November 30. This first annual holiday celebration organized by the Feldspar team highlights Feldspar Trucking’s ongoing commitment to the community, even after the devastation of Hurricane Helene, and reinforces the shared values of safety, service and resilience that both Feldspar and Trimac uphold.

Remembering legacy driver Robin Felker
It’s with heavy hearts to announce the passing of retired Company Driver Robin Felker, who spent over 51 years driving with Trimac.
Robin was born on Aug. 10, 1948, in Williams Lake, B.C. He spent his youth attending private school at Qualicum College and summers at home on the Lazy R Cattle Ranch in La Hache, B.C. He attended high school in 100 Mile House before moving to Kelowna at the age of 18 where he started driving a gravel truck. Robin married Jody in 1970, moving to Clearwater shortly after.
In August 1970, Robin joined the Trimac family, working out of the Kamloops, B.C. branch. Robin eventually made the shift to owning his own truck as an Independent Contractor and moving his family to Nanaimo, B.C. in 1986.
Over the years, Robin hauled a variety of products, starting with asphalt in Kamloops and eventually transporting chemicals for pulp mills. He often spoke of his love for driving on Vancouver Island, calling it “one of the most beautiful parts of the world,” though he fondly recalled hauling gasoline as his favourite. Robin’s dedication and achievements were celebrated in many ways, including a visit from Terminal Manager Paul England to celebrate his remarkable 50-year anniversary with Trimac. Robin was presented with a custom-built scale model of his beloved 2001 Western Star truck in Trimac colours. This thoughtful gift, created by Loader Glynn Johnson, reflected the respect and admiration Robin earned throughout his career and the deep bonds he formed within the Trimac family.
After many dedicated years of driving, Robin retired in 2022. Robin’s remarkable 51-year career with Trimac was built on a foundation of family support and dedication to his craft. His wife, Jody, stood by him every step of the way, often going above and beyond to ensure his success.
On Nov. 15, 2024, Robin passed away at home after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife Jody, children Jason (Amanda) and April (Tom), sister Joyce Felker (Les), brother Joey Kozakevich, and sister-in-law Joan Felker. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Mark (Gerri) and Clark Johnston, sisters-in-law Wendy Carlson (Dan) and Laureen Johnston, as well as many cousins, nephews and nieces from the Felker, Singlehurst and Johnston families.
Robin embodied the true spirit of a professional, old-school trucker and was a valued mentor to many at Trimac and within the industry. Many who knew him will remember him as an inspiration and a shining example of what it means to live with integrity and heart. He will be deeply missed by the countless drivers whose lives he touched throughout his incredible career.
Trimac’s holiday decorating contest returns with twist
Get ready to deck the halls—Trimac’s holiday decorating contest is back! After last year’s incredible success and growing interest across the organization, we’re excited to host this festive event once again, officially making this an annual event!

How to participate
Teams can transform their workspaces into festive displays while keeping safety and teamwork in mind. Once your decorations are complete, submit your photos or videos by December 13 to journey@trimac.com to participate in the competition. All submissions will be posted on December 16. Voters have till the end of the day of December 17 to vote for a centre and terminal. Winners will be announced on Friday, Dec. 20.
Guidelines to keep in mind
While we encourage creativity, it’s important to follow these guidelines to ensure a collaborative and respectful environment:
– Decorations must be easily removable and non-damaging.
– Do not block or impede entrances.
– Decorations should not interfere with daily job requirements or disturb others at work.
– Ensure all decorations adhere to fire safety rules.
– Use extension cords and lighting with caution.
Note: As this is a voluntary contest to get into the festive spirit, a budget will not be allocated to this initiative. We challenge teams to get creative with existing materials and resources available to them to participate.
This is your chance to show off your team spirit, creativity and holiday cheer while connecting with colleagues across Trimac. We can’t wait to see the incredible displays you come up with. Let’s make this holiday season a memorable one!

Trimac’s commitment to women’s careers in trucking highlighted at WIT’s Accelerate! Conference
Trimac participated in the Women In Trucking Association’s (WIT) 2024 Accelerate! Conference & Expo held from November 10 to 13 in Dallas, Texas. Trimac was one of 134 transportation industry companies to be recognized, which covers companies in the freight technology to equipment to carrier spaces.
The annual list recognizes companies that prioritize gender diversity, professional development, flexible work conditions and career advancement opportunities for women.
“Companies named to this prestigious list must demonstrate corporate attributes that are essential to any successful enterprise committed to gender diversity as part of their corporate strategy,” said Brian Everett, publisher of Redefining the Road. “Qualifying … involves two-steps. First, nominations by companies are carefully reviewed to ensure they meet a minimum threshold of qualifications. Then the final ballot of companies is voted on by individuals in the industry. This is the seventh year of this prestigious recognition program, and it garnered a record number of more than 31,000 votes to identify and validate the final companies named to the list.”
The event also celebrated the 2024 Top Women to Watch in Transportation, which was announced by Redefining the Road, WIT’s official magazine. Trimac’s Director of Culture & Communication, Leah Miller, was honoured to receive the accolade this year.
The conference featured educational sessions featuring industry thought leaders and subject matter experts on transportation, supply chain and gender issues. Trimac thanks its employees for their contributions in building an environment where everyone can succeed and is committed to empowering women in the trucking sector and is committed to fostering a workplace that supports and nurtures women’s careers in the trucking industry.

Trimac attends inaugural AMTA Industry Innovations Expo
Members of the Trimac team recently attended the inaugural Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) Industry Innovations Expo, an event dedicated to exploring strategies and innovations aimed at decarbonizing Western Canada’s transportation sector. The expo, held in Edmonton, Alta., featured key discussions on advancements in zero-emission vehicles, infrastructure development, policy initiatives and Alberta Zero Emissions Truck Electrification Collaboration (AZETEC).
A key highlight was the reveal of Canada’s first hydrogen fuel cell electric truck for heavy-duty transportation, developed and piloted for fellow program partner Bison. Experts discussed the truck’s design, construction, testing, and permitting processes, marking a significant milestone in Canadian heavy-duty vehicle innovation.
In addition, representatives from Edmonton Global and Deloitte examined the support systems, vehicle technologies, economic corridors, and infrastructure necessary to accelerate zero-emission vehicle adoption in Western Canada. They also introduced the 5,000 Hydrogen Vehicle Challenge, an ambitious initiative aimed at fleet decarbonization.
The expo also featured sessions on safety enhancements led by the Alberta Motor Transport Association, Deloitte, and Transport Canada, which outlined planned vehicle operations in Alberta for 2024-2025. This included a technical review of new vehicle technology, transport trailers, fueling infrastructure, vehicle diagnostics, and infrastructure site planning.
Trimac has been a key partner in AZETEC since its inception in 2019, a first-of-its-kind industry-led project involving the design, manufacturing and testing of two long-range heavy-duty hydrogen fuel cell trucks for year-round operation on Alberta’s QEII highway, which connects Calgary and Edmonton. In collaboration with 16 stakeholders within the energy, technology and transportation sectors, the project aims to promote the Canadian hydrogen economy and leverage regional natural resources to further industry-wide decarbonization efforts.
The AZETEC trucks, built on the Freightliner Cascadia Class 8 platform, are equipped with cutting-edge proton exchange membrane fuel cell engines developed by Ballard Power Systems. This advanced propulsion system is complemented by a lithium-ion battery pack and a hybrid electric drive designed by Dana Incorporated. Each truck boasts a hydrogen capacity of 67 kg and can travel 450 km while hauling a fully loaded 53.2-tonne trailer.
The delivery of the AZETEC trucks, along with comprehensive driver and mechanic training, is set to commence later in November. Once Canadian vehicle certification is complete, both trucks will be put into full operational service, representing a significant advancement in sustainable transportation solutions for the region.

Fundraiser reaches $10,000 goal to help Feldspar Trucking recover from Hurricane Helene
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Trimac team, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve reached our fundraising goal of $10,000 USD for the Feldspar Trucking recovery effort! Your donations, support and kindness have made a significant impact, and we couldn’t be prouder of how our team has come together to help our colleagues in Spruce Pine, N.C., after the devastation of Hurricane Helene. While we’ve met our goal, the road to recovery is still long, and our team members continue to show resilience in the face of overwhelming challenges. Their stories are a testament to the strength and unity that define both the Trimac family and the broader community.
Fairburn, Ga. Terminal Manager Josh Daniel wasted no time springing into action after the storm hit. Despite being 300 miles away in Georgia, Josh knew his friends and family in the hurricane-affected areas needed help. Josh sourced generators, fuel and water, driving long hours to deliver the much-needed supplies.
“When you’ve got family, friends and a community in need—you stop what you’re doing and figure it out,” he shared.
Josh also sourced the trailer and had it delivered to Doyle Sims & Sons Trucking in Tennessee, where it was filled with supplies. With help from Operations Manager Rick Legens at Doyle, the pair worked closely with local communities, receiving additional support from Bulk Plus Logistics and National Tank Services. With donations from local businesses and churches, they made sure the trailer was filled with essentials like food, blankets and water to aid the recovery efforts. Special thanks were given to Terminal Manager Jessica Ivy and the Spartanburg NTS Shop for their help in delivering a trailer of water to the affected site. This collective effort highlights the teamwork and pride within the organization.
Dispatcher Danielle Willis and Billing Specialist Katherine Honeycutt, both members of the Feldspar team, have faced immense challenges themselves. Danielle’s home was flooded and her road was washed away, yet she and her neighbours banded together to clear debris and restore access to their homes. Katherine, while her house was spared from total destruction, has been dealing with power outages and flooding in her lower level. Power may not be restored for up to three to six months to her home. Despite these hardships, their resilience and the support they’ve received from the community have been inspiring.
Safety Specialist Mitchell Woodward, another member of the team, opened his home to neighbours who lost theirs. Using his generator, he’s been able to provide food and shelter, offering a lifeline to those around him.
“Coming back to work was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make because so many around me still need help,” Mitchell said, yet his dedication to his community has never wavered.
Company Driver Wiley Williams has been an invaluable part of the recovery efforts for Feldspar Trucking. Despite humbly saying, “we really haven’t done much,” Wiley went above and beyond by coordinating critical deliveries of winter clothing and supplies to the hurricane-affected areas. When his wife overheard a donation center struggling to transport much-needed items into the mountains, Wiley took the initiative to help. He worked with Trimac to cover the expenses of a rental trailer and personally ensured that the blankets, coats, gloves and other essentials reached those in need. His quick thinking and dedication made a significant impact, especially as cold weather approaches, helping to bring warmth and relief to those still recovering from the disaster.
These stories of resilience are just a few examples of the incredible strength and unity our Feldspar colleagues have shown. Thanks to the support from the Trimac family, the donations raised will go directly toward helping them rebuild their lives. But as these employees continue to work through the aftermath of the hurricane, there’s still much to be done.
While federal agencies and local businesses have played a major role in providing aid, local groups such as the Redneck Air Force have also contributed to the relief efforts. Their work in delivering supplies to hard-to-reach areas has been invaluable to the recovery. To learn more about their efforts, you can read about them here.
Thank you again to everyone who contributed to this incredible cause. Your donations, whether large or small, have helped us reach our goal. Together, we’ve made a real difference in the lives of our Feldspar family. While we celebrate this milestone, let’s continue supporting our colleagues as they work to rebuild their homes, restore their communities and return to a sense of normalcy.

They went above and beyond to prepare the facility and ensure that everything ran smoothly. Attendees also had the opportunity to tour the site, gaining valuable insights into the unique operations of the Fairburn terminal.
This gathering marked the end of the second year for the councils. As part of the natural rotation, several members stepped down from both councils to make way for fresh perspectives and new voices. From the Driver Council, we bid farewell to Gurpreet Sandhu (Gary), Prabhdeep Singh Gill, and Paul Johnson. From the Field Council, we say goodbye to Tracy Bird, Ken Molkoski, and Kevin Millier. We’re also excited to welcome Justyn Critch as a new member of the Field Council.
Focus on safety and driver engagement
A key theme of both meetings was exploring how we can promote behaviour changes in driving and encourage drivers to look out for one another’s well-being. From presentations on distracted driving to discussions around recognition programs, attendees were engaged in brainstorming ways to ensure safety remains a top priority without sacrificing operational efficiency. With everyone’s input, the sessions took a deep dive into how Trimac can foster a safety-conscious culture.
Some of the most engaging discussions included:
– Driver recognition: The councils discussed how recognizing safe driving can be made more meaningful and targeted to encourage positive behaviours. Ideas ranged from refining the rules for safety rewards to using driver feedback more effectively to ensure continuous safety improvements.
– In-cab technology: Both councils evaluated Trimac’s current in-cab technology, sharing feedback on how it impacts safety and what enhancements could be implemented to promote a smoother and safer driving experience.
– Promoting behaviour changes: Participants were particularly focused on how to reframe distracted driving and cultivate a culture of safety where every team member feels responsible for each other’s safety.
Looking Ahead
The meetings were an important step in gathering information that will help shape future safety programs and operational improvements. As we continue to evaluate feedback from these discussions, we remain committed to creating actionable strategies that will drive further success across Trimac. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to these insightful discussions. We look forward to building on these ideas in the months ahead.
Trailer donation helps equip Rosetown Fire Department for enhanced training
The Rosetown Fire Department has a new training resource thanks to a collaborative donation organized by National Tank Services (NTS) and Northern Resource Trucking (NRT). This generous contribution will significantly enhance the department’s ability to conduct critical training for various emergency response scenarios.
In August 2023, VP Trimac Ventures Deryk Gillespie helped connect Director of NTS Garry Peacock, with Hayden Macknak, Training Officer for the Rosetown Fire Department, to begin the process. Hayden was searching for a unit similar to those frequently passing through their community to help their firefighters train in real-world scenarios. An opportunity to assist was recognized, knowing that NRT had equipment they were looking to retire.
Glen Ertell, VP of Operations at NRT, and Garry worked together to select a suitable trailer, which was approved by Hayden. Glen, who has since retired from NRT, was also instrumental in coordinating the logistics, including reaching out to Brad’s Towing/Astro Towing, who kindly offered to handle the transportation on a backhaul basis. The unit was finally delivered in October 2023, and the Rosetown Fire Department began training with it in June 2024, marking the end of a nearly 10-month process.
“We’d like to once again thank you for your time and generous donation of the Sulphur trailers,” said Hayden, expressing his gratitude. “This donation will go to great use in training for all kinds of emergencies, including spills/hazmat response, extrication/stabilization techniques and fire suppression.”
The Rosetown Fire Department also shared their appreciation in a Facebook post, acknowledging the impact of the donation on their summer fire training efforts. https://www.facebook.com/share/zRDNBy5eHUfWXAfj/
This project underscores the importance of collaboration and community support in ensuring first responders are well-prepared to handle emergencies, making the Rosetown community safer for all.

Help our Feldspar Trucking team rebuild and recover after Hurricane Helene
Our Feldspar Trucking colleagues in Spruce Pine, N.C., have been severely impacted by the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene. Although floodwaters have receded, our employees and their families are still facing significant hardships. For the past six days, they’ve been without essential services like power, water, gas, and phone access. While limited supplies have reached the area, many of our team members are in urgent need of assistance.
The good news is that we have accounted for all our team members from Feldspar. While some drivers can continue working outside the affected area, those who cannot work locally are being relocated with the help of Rick Legens from Doyle Sims & Sons Trucking. He is assisting in getting these drivers back to work so they can generate paychecks during this difficult time.
The Feldspar Trucking community has shown incredible strength and resilience, but the road to recovery is long. Some of our team members have lost everything. One Independent Contractor narrowly escaped with his family, losing his home and vehicles but managing to save his tractor. The situation is dire, but we’re determined to help them rebuild.
While limited supplies have reached the area, many of our team members are in urgent need of assistance. Trimac team members have been delivering essential items such as water, gas, food, baby, pet and other supplies, but more support is required to continue assisting those in need. That’s why we’ve launched a GoFundMe fundraiser to provide aid directly to our affected employees.
How you can make a difference
We encourage all Trimac team members to consider contributing to the GoFundMe fundraiser here: Rebuild and Recover – Helping Feldspar Trucking Employees. Donations will go towards:
– Emergency supplies like water, propane, and food for employees and their pets
– Support for those unable to work due to the crisis
– Assistance with temporary housing and essential expenses for families who have lost their homes
When we made our first delivery of supplies, our team was overwhelmed with gratitude, with some moved to tears. This is our opportunity to provide continued support as they begin the long process of rebuilding.
Every contribution counts, no matter how small. As a Trimac family, we can make a big impact by coming together to support our colleagues in need. Let’s show our solidarity and compassion as we help them through this difficult time.

Supporting mental wellness with Text4Hope
Trimac is honoured to contribute and support the innovative Alberta-based program, Text4Hope, designed to help individuals manage stress and build resilience, particularly during times of heightened uncertainty and anxiety.
Mental health challenges have become increasingly prevalent in today’s fast-paced world. Programs like Text4Hope play a crucial role in addressing these challenges by offering easily accessible mental health support. This evidence-based tool provides people with daily messages that offer encouragement and practical advice on adjusting negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours that arise during challenging times.
Text4Hope’s approach is simple yet highly effective. It empowers individuals—especially lone workers such as professional drivers who often face long hours on the road and the isolation that comes with it—by delivering daily motivational reminders and practical strategies to develop healthy coping mechanisms. These messages are designed to foster mental well-being, reduce stress and build resilience, making it easier for people to navigate their personal and professional lives.
Understanding the importance of mental health in both the workplace and community, Trimac proudly donated $10,000 to the Mental Health Foundation earlier this year, who partnered with Kickstand to develop this impactful program.
Supporting Mental Health Day
As World Mental Health Day approaches on Thursday, Oct. 10, we encourage everyone to take a moment on Mental Health Day to reflect on their own well-being, support others and utilize the tools available to build a healthier and more resilient future.
Through our contribution to programs like Text4Hope, we aim to create a culture where mental health support is accessible and stigma-free.
According to the Community Mental Health Action Plan, over 6.7 million Canadians live with mental health problems, a number that continues to rise. In the United States, it was estimated that 57.8 million live with mental health problems.
We have a crucial role to play in advocating for mental health, increasing awareness, diminishing stigma and emphasizing the significance of access to necessary treatment and support.

Trimac announces relocation of Houston Service Center to Bayport, Texas
Trimac has announced the relocation of its Houston Service Center (HSC) to the Bayport terminal as part of the company’s strategic efforts to better align service centres with operational hubs. This move is expected to enhance collaboration, improve efficiency and bring support staff closer to day-to-day operations.
The decision to relocate follows the upcoming expiration of the lease for the current Houston office on JFK Blvd., which ends on April 30, 2025. Construction at the new Bayport location is set to begin this November, with the relocation expected between February and March 2025. While the timeline and details are subject to change as plans are finalized, Trimac is working to ensure a smooth transition for all involved.
Why the relocation?
The move is aligned with Trimac’s broader North American strategy to position service centres near operational terminals. By relocating U.S. head office teams to Bayport, the Houston Service Center will be positioned closer to both Truckline and National Tank Services operations. This proximity will allow for greater integration between support teams and drivers, improving decision-making by providing firsthand exposure to operations.
Service centers located near operations create opportunities for support staff to interact directly with drivers, walk the yard and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced in the field— a valuable opportunity that will be enhanced at the new Bayport location.
Long-term benefits
This relocation is part of a larger transformation that has been taking place across Trimac’s North American service centres over the past eight years. Originally designed as corporate offices, many service centres have since evolved into operational hubs, fostering increased synergies and collaboration across the business. The new Bayport location will follow this trend, helping to strengthen the connection between operational and support teams and driving improvements in efficiency and performance.
“As we embark on this transition, I want to emphasize that this move to Bayport represents an exciting opportunity for our team in Houston,” said Alex Giannuzzi, Vice-President of Operations, Northeast & South. “By bringing our service center closer to operations, we’re not only enhancing collaboration, but also creating a more connected environment where our teams can better support our drivers and day-to-day operations. I want to personally thank each of you for your continued commitment and adaptability during this time. We are here to support you throughout the transition, and I look forward to the great work we will accomplish together in this next chapter.”
For more information or to discuss how the transition may impact you, employees are encouraged to reach out to Alex or Annelisa Shaw, Director of North American HR Business Partners.
This move represents an exciting step forward for Trimac as the company continues to enhance its service centres to better support operations and achieve long-term success.
Supporting employees through the change
Recognizing that this transition may cause disruption for Houston employees, Trimac is committed to supporting all team members throughout the process. Individualized conversations are being held to ensure that employees have the information and options they need to make informed decisions. The company’s primary objective is to retain as many employees as possible, while remaining transparent and fair during this period of change.
To minimize disruption, current work schedules for Houston employees will remain unchanged, regardless of location or living situation. Additionally, the company is working on consolidating dispatch operations from both Bayport and Houston into a single, spacious facility. Preliminary plans for the office layout are being reviewed and further details, including photos and office design renderings, will be shared as soon as they are finalized.

A family’s tribute to Maurice McCaig
September 25, 1938 – September 5, 2024
Below is a letter penned by Robbert McCaig.
Maurice McCaig, born on Sept. 25, 1938, in Moose Jaw, Sask., passed away Sept. 5, 2024 at home in Calgary, Alta., surrounded by love and family, after a battle with cancer.
Maurice is survived by his wife, Nicole; his two sons, Mark (Jillian) of Calgary and Mike (Bill) of Vancouver; and his two cherished grandchildren, Dayna Klee (Zack) of Calgary and Keegan McCaig of Mississauga. He is also loved by his three great-grandchildren, Khloe, Kennedy, and Roman, as well as many special nieces and nephews.
Maurice was a man who loved his family, friends, and everything with a motor. His passion for trucks began in his youth when he would eagerly sweep floors just to be around his father’s McCaig Cartage garage. It wasn’t long before he was sneaking out with drivers on early morning deliveries, and he eagerly took the wheel himself as soon as he could reach the pedals.
Over his nearly 70-year career with Trimac Transportation, Maurice held almost every position in the organization, from driver to dispatcher to president. He will be remembered fondly by his Trimac Family for his deep understanding of the industry, unwavering passion for the business, and genuine care for the people who worked there. His legacy at Trimac is not just one of professional achievement, but of fostering the culture of dedication, service and safety.
Throughout his career, Maurice played a pivotal role in supporting and mentoring multiple generations of leaders across the company, ensuring that his wisdom, values, and industry insights would continue to shape Trimac’s future long after his own tenure.
In 2018, Trimac established the Maurice McCaig Safety Award to honour his contributions as the former Chair of the Health, Safety, Security, and Environment Committee. The Safety Award recognizes branches achieving zero injuries while logging the highest number of hours worked.
This award, along with the Maurice McCaig Collaboration Centre at Trimac’s Calgary headquarters, will continue to memorialize him and serve as a reminder to us of the values of teamwork and safety.
Maurice’s love for all things motorized extended to helicopters, boats, and race cars. His passion for race cars, in particular, was shared with his dear brother Roger, culminating in their class victory at the Daytona 24-hour team race.
In his later years, Maurice actively participated in vintage sports car racing and took pride in locating and repurchasing Roger’s original orange McLaren Can-Am. His commitment to preserving automotive history led him to participate in the American Truck Historical Society and donate restored vintage trucks to the Pioneers Acres Museum.
An avid traveler, Maurice treasured his journeys with Nicole, particularly their trip to Eastern Europe in 1989 during the fall of the Berlin Wall, and a scenic train journey through Scotland on the Royal Scotsman.
Despite his achievements, Maurice remained a humble and quiet man with deep compassion for others. His generosity touched many lives in the Calgary community, supporting the Humane Society, guide dog organizations, and charities assisting those less fortunate. He was an important contributor to Trimac’s employee student scholarships and the McCaig Institute for Bone and Joint Research.
Maurice was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Stella McCaig; his brothers, JR (Bud) and Roger; and his sister, Jean. To honour Maurice and the impact he had on so many of us here at Trimac, employees are welcome to attend his memorial service in Calgary, Alta. Funeral Services will be held at Anglican Parish of Christ Church (3602 – 8th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Monday, September 23, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Nicole requests that you honour Maurice’s memory by taking a friend to lunch and expressing how important they are to you.

A Legacy in the making: Garry Peacock’s 45 Years with Trimac
When Director, National Tank Services (NTS), Garry Peacock joined Trimac on Sept. 4, 1979, no one could have ever predicted the impact he would have on the organization.
Over the past 45 years, Garry has been a cornerstone of Trimac, demonstrating exceptional leadership and dedication throughout his career. Starting as a Highway Transport Mechanic in 1979, Garry quickly moved up the ranks, taking on increasingly challenging roles. As Shop Foreman, he oversaw the maintenance of transport equipment and managed a team of 15 technicians.
His career continued to progress as he became Shop Manager in Grande Prairie, Alta. and later in Edmonton, where he played a pivotal role in turning around the profitability of the shop and washrack operations. From 1999 to 2010, Garry’s expertise in safety and compliance, along with his ability to grow and develop his teams, led him to manage entire regions, including the Prairie Region and Western Canada, where he was responsible for multiple shops and washracks.
In late 2010, Garry became Director, Maintenance Facilities for Canada, where he implemented strategies to ensure regulatory compliance and maximize fleet maintenance. In 2014, Garry shifted his focus to NTS as Director, Maintenance Facilities. By 2021, he expanded his leadership to oversee fleet maintenance across North America, further enhancing Trimac’s operational efficiency and safety standards.
“My experience working in the field in Saskatoon, Sask., gave me a lot of experience so that I can relate to the people on the floor,” said Garry. “I am not a suit, I am more hands-on and happy to help where needed.”
Today, as the Director, NTS Maintenance Facilities for Canada Northeast and U.S. South, Garry manages 25 shops and 20 washracks, continuing to set the standard for excellence in maintenance and safety. His commitment to developing Area Leads in the region, ensuring employee safety and maintaining Trimac’s fleet at peak performance is a testament to his unparalleled expertise and dedication.
Driving our NTS shops forward
Garry has played a pivotal role in shaping the future of NTS shops, driving innovation and growth. One of his most significant contributions was the development of a commercial strategy for the expansion of third-party work. This strategic move not only opened up NTS shops to more external business but also projected over $51 million in revenue. By transitioning from focusing solely on internal work to embracing outside commercial opportunities, NTS could showcase the exceptional skills of its technicians while simultaneously filling revenue gaps during slower periods.
The shift to include third-party work wasn’t without its challenges. Initially, it was a tough transition, but Garry’s leadership and the clear benefits of the change helped others to see the long-term value. His philosophy of embracing change has been a cornerstone of his approach to leadership. “Change is good; it’s important to embrace it,” Garry shared, embodying his forward-thinking mindset.
Over the years, Garry’s leadership has continued to strengthen, as evidenced by the recent creation of the Peacock Safety Award. This award was designed to recognize and celebrate the incredible efforts of NTS and Bulk Plus Logistics teams that are taking safety to the next level. The NTS Guelph, Ontario branch, for instance, was the first branch to achieve this remarkable safety milestone, which includes meeting its High Consequence Reporting goal and logging an impressive 27,981 injury-free hours.
Garry’s commitment to his team is unwavering, and he has always been a vocal advocate for recognizing his team’s contributions. Understanding that their efforts are just as critical as those of drivers, he initiated the creation of the Peacock Safety Award to ensure shop teams have something to strive for and celebrate. His determination to speak up for his people and ensure their contributions are recognized has made a lasting impact on Trimac’s culture.
Carrying on the Peacock family legacy
As we celebrate Garry’s remarkable 45-year journey with Trimac, it’s impossible to overlook the deep-rooted family legacy that has shaped both his career and our company. Garry is part of a lineage that has been intertwined with Trimac’s history for nearly seven decades. His father, Ed Peacock, started this legacy in 1955 in Moose Jaw, Sask., laying the foundation for what would become a family tradition of service, commitment and excellence.
Garry is joined by several family members, including Ed, Dale, Patricia, Alex, Grant, Scott, Rodney, Dennis and Colin, who have also dedicated their careers to Trimac. Together, the Peacocks have contributed an incredible 192 years of service. This legacy extends beyond Garry, including his brothers, his daughter and even his nephew, all of whom have played pivotal roles in the company’s operations over the years.
Family values have always been at the heart of Garry’s approach to his work. He attributes the success and strength of the Peacock family to their close-knit bond. This sense of unity and support has not only been a cornerstone of their personal lives but has also influenced their professional contributions at Trimac. The Peacocks have embodied the spirit of teamwork, loyalty and dedication that Trimac values, enriching our company culture with their unwavering commitment.
In addition to their professional achievements, the Peacock family has also made significant contributions to charitable causes. Over the past six years, they have raised $170,000 through initiatives like Movember and they continue to support local charities such as STARS and the Children’s Hospital. This spirit of generosity and community involvement reflects the values that Garry and his family hold dear.
Reflecting on his long and fulfilling career, Garry proudly states, “Trimac has looked after me, and I’ve looked after it.” His words capture the essence of a relationship built on mutual respect, dedication and a shared commitment to a better future—a relationship that has spanned 45 years and continues to inspire those around him. As for retirement, Garry often remarks that he would consider it only after experiencing two bad days in a row, but fortunately for Trimac, those days have yet to come.
A true mentor
Garry attributes his success not only to hard work but also to the influential individuals who have shaped his journey at Trimac. Among these, Rick McBride stands out prominently as a mentor. With over 44 years at Trimac, Rick played a pivotal role in Garry’s career, moving him to Grande Prairie, Alta., entrusting him with the Edmonton facility, and supporting his return to Saskatoon, Sask., to further his career development.
Today, while Garry thoroughly enjoys his role, he finds his greatest satisfaction in mentoring others. He relishes the opportunity to guide new generations, helping them understand the business and navigate its challenges.
“It has its challenges, but it certainly has been rewarding to be able to share some experiences and help people grow in their positions,” Garry reflects on his role as a mentor. “They have a lot of great skill; if I can help tune them up, that’s my goal.” His commitment extends beyond just giving advice. “I may not always have the answer, but I’ll find out who does,” he assured, highlighting his willingness to support his team in any way he can.
Garry’s advice to those aspiring to have a long and fulfilling career at Trimac is straightforward yet profound: “Make sure you’re happy. Know that there are always opportunities at Trimac. Opportunities don’t always land on your doorstep. Don’t be afraid to go for it.” His career is a testament to the possibilities that arise when one combines passion with perseverance.
As we celebrate Garry’s 45th anniversary with Trimac, his story is not just one of personal achievement but an inspiration for all at Trimac. Through continuous learning and teaching, one can not only grow but also significantly contribute to the growth of others. Garry’s unwavering dedication and willingness to mentor the next generation ensure that the legacy of leadership and learning at Trimac continues to flourish.
We extend our deepest gratitude for his invaluable contributions and steadfast dedication. Thank you, Garry, for not only shaping our operations but also for inspiring and mentoring countless professionals within our organization.
Meet AIP’s leaders driving success through expertise and collaboration
American Industrial Partners (AIP) Logistics joined Trimac’s family of companies in April 2023, and the collaboration has already unlocked more learning opportunities than we could have anticipated.
Founded in 1982 by Charles Kantner, AIP began as Riverside Storage, providing basic warehousing for dry food ingredients. Recognizing a growing demand for transportation services, the company expanded its operations to include trucks and trailers, eventually developing a rail yard that solidified its standing in the logistics industry.
Today, AIP operates on a 60-acre campus in Wapakoneta, Ohio, with four buildings that house over 540,000 square feet of storage space. The small but mighty team of 30, including 10 drivers, delivers a range of services from transloading bulk resins, powders and some liquids to warehousing for aluminum, household and food products.
With a close-knit team, everyone at AIP plays a critical role in the company’s success, making it an essential part of Trimac’s expanding operations. Let’s take a closer look at the four key leaders who are driving AIP forward.
Brayden Newland
AIP’s Chief Financial Officer, Brayden Newland, has been with the company nearly three years. Like many roles within a small team, his position extends far beyond the typical responsibilities of a CFO. Brayden manages human resources, IT, customer contracts including yearly pricing, and of course, accounting and finance. His multifaceted role highlights his dedication and versatility to keeping AIP running smoothly.
Brayden’s career trajectory has been swift, earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minor in finance from Ohio Northern University in just two and a half years. He began as an accounting Intern with the Defense Finance Accounting Service (DFAS) and eventually moved into management where he grew his team from three to 15.
In 2021, Brayden decided to find a role closer to his hometown, near Lima, Ohio. His appreciation for small-town culture along with his love for warehousing led him to a role with AIP, which soon transformed into the position he holds today. His previous experience with equipment on the floor sparked a desire to explore other facets of the business.
Thanks to new systems and automation, Brayden’s team of two—including himself—efficiently handles accounting, allowing him to support other business areas. Equipped with a forklift license, Brayden is even ready to help in the warehouse when needed—a sentiment that resonates across the AIP team. “I love coming to work every day,” expressed Brayden. “I know every employee and we’ve got a great management team that works well together.
Brayden’s commitment and hard work play a pivotal part in the company’s success and growth but work in tandem with his cross-functional team. Together, his team fosters strong collaboration to ensure that every aspect of AIP’s operation is aligned and efficient.
Vince Jolly
Operations Director Vince Jolly joined AIP in 2021. Vince oversees various groups within AIP, from transloading to driver management and everything in between. His insight and leadership are critical in the team’s decision-making process, particularly in maximizing resource utilization—an area where Vince excels.
Vince holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Ohio State University. He began his career in the food industry with Interstate Brands Corporation, where he rose through various positions to become Director of Operations, managing seven manufacturing facilities and approximately 1,300 employees across the upper Midwestern US. His extensive experience spans manufacturing, production, engineering, transportation, research development and quality assurance.
In 2007, Vince moved to Wapakoneta to prioritize family time, working at a private equity firm overseeing a pizza manufacturing facility. After a four-year stint in ethanol plant management, he returned to the food industry before landing at AIP.
Originally from Wapakoneta, Vince was pleased to find a role close to home at AIP. His expertise has not only enhanced operations but also positively influenced the company’s culture. Vince is a strong advocate for work/life balance, facility maintenance and treating employees right.
“In business, you have to invest in machinery and maintenance,” said Vince. “The same can be said with investing in our people. It’s the human capital side.”
Vince’s vast experience and unwavering dedication have been instrumental in shaping the success of AIP’s operations. His thoughtful approach and commitment to AIP’s people and the business make him an invaluable asset to the small but mighty team.
Bert Bendokaitis
Bert Bendokaitis, Manager, WMS & Inventory Control, started his journey with AIP at approximately the same time as Vince in 2021. He oversees warehouse services, inventory control, and customer relations, leveraging his extensive experience with their Warehouse Management System (WMS).
Originally from Grand Rapids, Mich., Bert holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Michigan. His career began at Speedway working in operations and marketing. There, he developed a passion for data, eventually leading him into the warehousing industry. This journey took him from Michigan to Florida and finally to Ohio.
With over 20 years of experience in warehousing and logistics, Bert’s expertise spans international and domestic transportation management, ocean freight containers, and truckload operations, including small packages, UPS, DHL, and expedited shipping.
Today, he works closely with the team, providing accurate data that informs various business areas.
“I could have a warehouse with 4,000 items, and I could get you within five to 10 feet of where that palette is located,” said Bert. “There are things that I can get out of the WHS that others can, but I know how to do it quickly and efficiently.”
Bert’s willingness to step in wherever needed reflects his commitment to the team. His experience and deep understanding of warehouse operations make him an important piece of the AIP puzzle. Putting the right people in the right roles is crucial, and Bert exemplifies how that approach drives AIP’s success.
Dawson Kohl
Trimac’s Area Manager Special Projects, Dawson Kohl, started working with AIP shortly after the acquisition. His role is uniquely intertwined with AIP, bridging the gap between Trimac and AIP operations. During the transition, Dawson has been immersing himself in AIP’s expert warehousing operations and technology while also bringing valuable insights on trucking, safety culture and environmental services to the team. “I love the challenge and absolutely love AIP,” said Dawson. “I absolutely love that branch. It’s gorgeous.”
Dawson joined Trimac in 2013, initially working on the Hammerstone project in Fort McMurray, Alta. Following Fort McMurray fires, he transitioned to an Area Manager role for Trimac’s Trail, B.C. branch in 2016. In 2020, he moved into special projects, supporting major transloading operations across various locations including Fairburn, Ga., Concord, Ont. and Trail. Today, his role focuses on trucking and transloading in Trail, Kamloops, B.C. and AIP— with more to come!
Originally from Port Colborne, Ont., Dawson was determined to move out west. Rising through the ranks at G4S Cash Solutions, his role eventually led him to Edmonton, Alta. with his family in 2005. He continued to build his leadership skills and experience as General Manager for Northern Alberta before moving to Trimac.
Dawson is the second generation of his family to work for Trimac. His father drove for Bartlett Transport Limited, acquired by Trimac in 1996. Today, his son, Heavy-duty Mechanic Roman Kohl, continues the legacy.
Dawson’s deep-rooted trucking expertise and strong core values reinforce the connection between Trimac and AIP. His commitment to safety, operational excellence, and team success reflects a legacy of dedication spanning three generations.
The future is bright
AIP’s potential is limitless, thanks to Brayden’s financial acumen, Vince’s resource management, Bert’s expertise in systems and inventory, and Dawson’s trucking and transloading knowledge. The small, cross-functional team leverages each other’s strengths to make informed decisions and deliver exceptional service.
AIP has always strived to service high-volume customers. They will never turn down a new customer, even going out of their way to find a temporary solution.
It’s that approach to white-glove customer service that truly makes their team unique and their customers loyal! With customers like Proctor and Gamble and Cargill, AIP understands the value of reliable customer service and fostering good relationships.
“Everyone at AIP takes pride in what they do,” said Brayden.
Like Trimac, AIP reflects the values of hard work and a supportive work environment. Both organizations are built on strong foundations and share a commitment to growth, making this partnership full of potential.
“Being as lean as we are, we don’t have a safety person or human resources, and now with Trimac, we have those,” said Bert. “That’s been helpful to us.”
Since its acquisition, AIP has expanded its trucking business by almost double, which is only the tip of the iceberg. This dynamic blend of skills and collaboration among the team has created a fertile ground for learning and innovation. By leveraging each other’s strengths and the additional resources from Trimac, AIP is well-positioned to continue its growth trajectory. With this incredible team at the helm, together, we are paving the way for even more achievements ahead.
Trimac grieves passing of Harshvir Malhi
It is with sadness that we announce the tragic loss of our colleague, IC Harshvir Singh Malhi, who passed away in an accident on the morning of Aug. 14, 2024. At approximately 4:37 a.m., Harshvir was involved in a fatal rollover while transporting a loaded trailer carrying ammonium nitrate solution near Nanton, Alta.
Harshvir, who was just 31 years old, had been a dedicated member of the Trimac family for more than two years. Harshvir was deeply respected by his peers and cherished by those who had the privilege of working alongside him. He leaves behind his wife, Jaspreet, and their two young sons—a three-year-old and a 15-month-old—who now face an unimaginable loss. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.
In light of this tragedy, a GoFundMe page has been set up by Harshvir’s co-worker, Harminder Singh Dhaliwal, to assist his wife and children. The funds raised will go directly to Jaspreet to help alleviate some of the immediate financial burdens as she navigates this heartbreaking period. Your generosity and support can provide much-needed relief to Harshvir’s family and help them as they face the challenging road ahead.

Office Closure Reminder: Labour Day
Please note that on Monday, Sept. 2, 2024, our North American corporate offices will be closed for Labour Day. This closure affects all provinces in Canada and states in the U.S.
Labour Day is a public holiday celebrated in various parts of the world to honour the contributions and achievements of workers and the labour movement—serving as a tribute to the social and economic achievements of workers worldwide and their impact on our daily lives.
Labour Day traces its history back to the labour union movement of the late 19th century, specifically in Canada and the United States, when labour activists advocated for a day to recognize and celebrate the movement’s efforts in improving working conditions and worker rights.
Make safety part of your weekend plans
Holidays are anticipated opportunities for people to enjoy parks, lakes, sporting events, and attractions, which means more travellers will be on our roadways. Drivers are reminded to follow all laws and be courteous.
According to an Alberta study that examined five years’ worth of crash data, holiday weekends see, on average, an 18% higher rate of fatal collisions than non-holiday weekends. As a result, police forces across the country are stepping up enforcement, watching for not only speeders but also the “big four” that contribute to highway deaths: aggressive drivers, distracted drivers, impaired drivers, and those not using seatbelts.
Among three of those illegal acts – impaired driving, speeding, and failure to wear a seatbelt – the non-use of seatbelts tends to be the higher of the three infractions on long weekends, according to the study, even though seatbelts worn correctly can reduce the chances of death in a collision by 47% and the chances of serious injury by 52%.
As we approach the Labour Day weekend, we want to express our heartfelt thanks for your unwavering dedication and hard work throughout the year. Your contributions are the backbone of Trimac’s success, and we are incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together.
Trimac launches Intern Mentorship Program
We are excited to announce the launch of Trimac’s new Mentorship Program, designed to connect our interns with emerging and seasoned leaders within the organization. This program aims to help accelerate the professional growth of our interns while simultaneously enriching the leadership skills of our tenured employees.
This year, Trimac welcomed 16 new and returning interns from a variety of backgrounds and skillsets as part of our Internship Program. As the summer internship comes to a close, the Mentorship Program ensures that the connections made and the knowledge gained don’t end here. Interns will be paired with experienced Trimac employees for one-on-one mentoring sessions that will extend beyond the internship, providing ongoing support and guidance as they continue their professional journeys. This program not only reinforces our commitment to developing future talent but also fosters a culture of continuous learning and collaboration within Trimac.

Leading the way: Safe driving tips for harvest season
Harvest season is upon us!
From July to November, harvest work is in full swing, which means local roads and highways will see increased farm traffic. Slow-moving farm equipment will be on roads already busy with summer travellers and families as children return to school. You’re most likely to find yourself sharing roads with tractors, swathers, balers, bale trailers, combines and grain carts.
During the busy season, farmers often travel long distances between fields, and this requires transporting equipment on public roads throughout rural areas. Farm equipment is oversized and slow compared to other vehicles using the roads and when certain procedures are not met, this can lead to collisions and other incidents.
Driving safety tips during harvest season:
- Slow down — those flashing lights mean “caution” and those big triangles mean “slow-moving vehicle.”
- Keep a safe distance so operators can see you. If you can’t see their mirrors, they can’t see you.
- Don’t assume they know you’re there; farm equipment is noisy and operators may not hear you approach — don’t be afraid to use that horn if you decide to pass.
- Large equipment may reduce lane width and passing opportunities. Pick a safe place to pass and pass wide. Make sure there’s nothing coming in the other lane. Wide equipment creates large blind spots.
- Don’t pass within 100 feet of any intersection, hill, railroad grade crossing, bridge, elevated structure or tunnel.
- Watch for possible field entrances where vehicles may turn in unexpectedly. When they pull to the right side of the road, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re letting you pass — they may be preparing for a wide left turn.
- When meeting oncoming farm equipment, pull to the right-hand side of the road, if the shoulder permits, to ensure a safe passage.
- Slow down and remain patient. Grain trucks are heavy and require long stopping distances.
- When visibility is limited by dusty conditions, the sun is low on the horizon, night has fallen or in poor weather conditions, be especially vigilant.
- Be wary of unsecured cargo like bales of hay that, if not properly secured, can cause catastrophic damage.
- Leave plenty of time to reach your destination if the trip involves travel on rural roads.
- Distracted driving is a major cause of all accidents but be especially careful to avoid the electronics near farm equipment. The text, call or email can wait!
As professional drivers, it’s our responsibility to lead by example, especially during the busy harvest season. With the increase in farm traffic on rural roads, safety is paramount. By staying vigilant, exercising patience and following these essential safety tips, we can help ensure that everyone on the road gets home safely. Let’s continue to set the standard for safe driving and show our commitment to keeping our roads secure for all.
Back to School Safety
With children of all ages heading back to school this month, drivers play a key role in back-to-school safety. It’s important we all watch out for children and school buses on our streets over the coming weeks. Below are some stats specific to Back-to-School safety:
- Nearly 50 per cent of the other drivers involved in collisions with school buses committed a driver error. The most common driver error committed by other drivers was following too closely.
- On average each year, approximately 247 children under 15 are killed or injured as pedestrians or cyclists.
- School buses in Alberta travel an estimated 450,000 km a day – that’s more than 10 times around the earth!
- The penalty for failing to stop for a school bus with its alternating flashing red lights activated is $543 and six demerit points in Alberta, Canada.
- Over 70 per cent of casualty collisions and nearly 90 per cent of property damage collisions involving a school bus occurred in urban areas.

Trimac mourns Glenn Medina
It is with sorrow that we announce the loss of our Trimac Company Driver Glenn Medina, who tragically passed away in an accident on Aug. 3. At approximately 5 a.m., Glenn was travelling on I-80, returning from Nevada to Hayward with empty trailers. For reasons still under investigation, Glenn lost control of his truck, resulting in a devastating and fatal fire.
Glenn has been a valued member of the Trimac family for six years, known for his dedication, professionalism, and warm personality. He was recently married, and his wife, Jovelyn, had just arrived from the Philippines to join him in the United States. They were the proud parents of a 6-month-old daughter, Athena Elliesha. He also leaves behind three adult children.
“Glenn was a dedicated driver,” said Marty Gevorkian, Terminal Manager. “He handled some of our most critical cross-border routes, always with the goal of providing a better future for his family. He often talked about saving for a house and giving his new baby the best start in life. His work ethic and commitment to his loved ones will always be remembered.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with Glenn’s family—especially Jovelyn and Athena—during this incredibly difficult time. In light of this tragedy, a GoFundMe page has been set up to assist Glenn’s family with funeral expenses and to help ease the financial burden they now face.
Glenn will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Watch the Truckers Against Trafficking cause discovery event replay
Trimac recently hosted a company-wide webinar diving into how the trucking industry is uniquely positioned to recognize and report human trafficking.
Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) was founded in 2009 with a mission to educate, equip, empower and mobilize members of the transportation industry to recognize and report human trafficking. Understanding that truckers are the eyes and ears of a nation’s highways, TAT wanted to equip transportation professionals to become partners to law enforcement in combating this crime.
Human trafficking is a crime that exploits people for profit and a criminal enterprise that affects over 150 million people globally. Second only to the illegal drug epidemic in profits, human trafficking tears families apart, destroys lives and undermines basic human rights. Millions are trapped worldwide, and the transportation industry is a vital artery for combating this crime.
Since 2015, Trimac has trained over 4,500 employees with TAT’s over the road (OTR) training video. With over 1.8 million trained worldwide, the training includes industry segment-specific videos (OTR, local driver, in-home delivery, etc.), wallet cards and a phone app, which cover everything from the red flags to look for and how to successfully report human trafficking. Armed with this knowledge, transportation professionals are making thousands of reports, which are resulting in hundreds of victim recoveries and perpetrator arrests.
This fight requires a united front and with the transportation industry behind this cause, we can dismantle the networks of human trafficking. By educating ourselves and empowering others, we can create a future where our roads are free from exploitation and victims have a safe road to freedom.

Krista and Haggards Mud Racing represent NTS with pride
Krista Lang, our National Tank Services Shop Laborer in Regina, is representing her shop in the wet and wild mud bogging racing scene.
Krista and her husband Rory have been mud bogging for over 17 years, travelling to small towns across Southern Saskatchewan to participate in the exhilarating sport. Mud bogging involves driving specially modified vehicles through deep mud pits, often resulting in spectacular displays of driving skill and sheer power.
Over the weekend of July 27, Krista and Rory attended Theodore’s Annual Super Swamper, where Rory achieved an impressive second-place finish in the 35-in. tire class competition. Krista’s passion for mud bogging doesn’t stop at cheering from the sidelines; she raced her personal Jeep Cherokee about 4 to 5 years ago and proudly took home a third-place trophy.
Krista, Rory and his brothers Bernzie and Gary started Haggards Mud Racing, a team consisting of five drivers, all sporting Jeep Cherokees. This tight-knit group thrives on the camaraderie and support within the mud bogging community, where competitors often lend a hand for repairs and maintenance. The spirit of teamwork and mutual support is something Krista carries over into her professional life at NTS.
This season, Krista adorned her Jeep with some NTS decals, proudly showcasing her connection to our company while she competes. This gesture not only highlights her pride in NTS but also brings a bit of our brand into the exciting world of mud bogging.
We wish Krista the best of luck throughout the rest of the season!
